Each song on this Ontario artist’s mellow folk-rock album radiates powerful emotion and represents a different stage in a continuous narrative about finding a way through relationships and connections. In life’s usual serendipitous fashion, Cassie Noble met Montréal artist, Brandon Patitucci, who offered up his engineering & production talents. Together, they thoughtfully compiled a select few songs to create an emotionally driven musical experience that would become her debut EP.
The first track, based on a dream, expresses feelings of being lost, held down, ignored. This continues into the first half of the second song, as a gradual decision is made to change the circumstances; "I refuse to waste my time". The middle & third track, "Medicine", shows newly discovered freedom and independence, with a more upbeat and 'full' dynamic. It also alludes to meeting new people ("feel free to keep me company") along this journey. The last two songs are about finding new love & happiness, struggling to hold onto it, and creating a new life.
Fun Note: Cassie’s heart (quite literally) went into this album. She held a microphone to her chest and sat very still so she could use her heartbeat as percussion in the first track, adding to its overall dream-like sound.
"Inspired heavily by nature, Cassie has been reinventing herself, growing, changing, and creating."
Addicted to love & life, with all its beauty, sadness, and joy. Finding beauty in madness, trying to find the words to share it. Cassie's songwriting style is mellow, often heavy with emotion, and contains copious amounts of soul & honesty.
As a young artist, Cassie performed her acoustic music shyly, until she joined The Do Good Badlies in 2012. Electric 'rock & roll' broke her out of her shell. As they played hundreds of shows and travelled across Canada over the years, Cassie found more and more of her own musical identity. Co - writing songs with the band helped her to discover and hone her skills on guitar & bass, and to thoroughly practice her first passion, singing.
"Cassie’s vocals are grandiose, she has such a unique voice. [...] You can say without any doubt that Lost at Sea has all the elements of a modern gem." - Lefuturewave
"A voice that does sadness so very well and sustains it admirably" - mp3hugger
"Powerful, passionate and heartfelt country/folk tinged indie-rock. It is burning with raw emotion as yearning vocals rise above equally raw, sparse strum - it is powerful and compelling" - BarryGruff
